As for me, I was thinking about the dreaded saggy middle of a book. I’ve collected a lot of thoughts about it in the Dancing On Coals How-To book Dodging the Dreaded Saggy Middle. It’s difficult to avoid having a saggy middle unless you deliberately pay attention to your story’s structure and pacing, but with some planning you can avoid watching the middle of your book sag and drag. Just remember that scenes without purpose almost always drag, and drag almost always turns into sag.
